About Pixel Biology
Pixel Biology teaches bioimage analysis and builds analysis tools for researchers in universities and industry. It is run by Lior Pytowski, who teaches the courses and works directly on consultancy projects.
Lior Pytowski
Lior graduated from the University of Oxford with a PhD in Cell Biology. During his PhD and postdoc he used advanced imaging techniques, including machine-learning-enhanced time-lapse live-cell imaging.
He received the University of Oxford’s Early Career Excellent Teacher award and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), which recognises teaching that meets the UK Professional Standards Framework for higher education.
Having collaborated with research institutions and biotech companies, he works across the whole analysis stack: Fiji/ImageJ macros and plugins, Python and deep-learning tools, and R for statistics and figures.
